Following a MSc. in Electronics and Control in 1996, Matthieu Carré
spent one year studying Acoustics, Signal Processing and Computing for Musical Applications at IRCAM.
He then worked with Nicolas Moreau and Pierre Duhamel on coding quality
assessment and speech processing in the
Signal & Image Processing Department at ENST Paris.
In 1998, he joined France Telecom R&D (Rennes, France) to work on
audio indexing with Pierrick Philippe, and received in 2002 a Ph.D.
in Signal and Image Processing from
ENST
for a work on query-by-humming musical document retrieval.
The proposed system, presented at the 54th
MPEG meeting (La Baule, France), influenced the melodic descriptors adopted by the
MPEG-7 standard.
In 2003, Matthieu Carré joined the Computer Science Laboratory (LIUM) at Université du Maine (Le Mans, France) where he spent two years teaching Computer Science, Signal Processing
and Control Theory.
Since September 2005, he has been with the ARTEMIS Department at TELECOM & Management SudParis where he coordinates the RIMES Project in the framework of the French TechnoVision programme on performance assessment of computer vision techniques.
Since December 2007, he has been also involved in the MediaTic project, focused on interactive and personalized services for audio-visual programs enhancement.
