FINAL EXAM
The final exam aims at writing a critical review of a scientific article introducing an image understanding method.

The review report, which will be based on the scientific analysis of the paper in light of the course content and of additional information sources of your choice, is expected to answer the following questions:

  • Problem statement: what is the (theoretical and/or applicational) problem under study?
  • State-of-the-art
  • what are the major (family of) existing approaches to address this problem (key ideas / performances & limitations)?
  • based on this analysis, what is the novel contribution of the paper?
  • Theory & Algorithms: what are the key points of the proposed approach, both from a theoretical and implementation (discretization, algorithms, numerical complexity...) point of view?
  • Experimental performances
  • what is the experimental assessment model? it is satisfying?
  • in light of the experimental results, what are the strengths and limitations of the method?
  • Conclusions & Perspectives
  • what are your conclusions regarding this approach?
  • what perspectives can you envision for it (e.g. further theoretical developments, improvements, applicability to other imaging problems...) ?
  • Organization
  • 2-people group
  • Subject allocation policy:
  • A subject can be chosen by only 1 group
  • Send subject number and title to nicolas.rougon@telecom-sudparis.eu
  • First-in / First-served
  • Final electronic document to be sent to nicolas.rougon@telecom-sudparis.eu
  • Deadline: June 26, 2017 / 8pm
